What is the VLS?
"VLS" is the acronym for Vertical Lift System; A revolutionary door conversion kit. Replacing the current door hinge of your vehicle, these hinges allow your door to both open the regular factory way, as well as straight up scissor/lamborghini style. You take off your doors, take of the OEM hinges, put on the VLS hinges, put your doors back on, and you're done. VLS is sure to give import show cars the 'edge' in competition. How long does the kit take to install?
Anywhere from 2-5 hours per side. Most of the actual install time is spent taking the side skirt, fender, and door off. Actually installing the door and aligning takes less time than putting it together again. Your time will vary with how quickly you can get at the door by taking those items off, and then putting them back on. It has taken some people with experience taking the fender off much less time than others.
Do you have to lift up or do the air shocks lift the door?
Yes you have to lift on the door about 1in. till the shocks stop holding the door down, and begin assisting the doors up. It is extremely wasy to lift the door up. We can lift the doors with 1 finger, and push them down the same way as well.
What holds the door up?
Custom made shocks by the premiere shock company in the world, based in Germany, were carefully made to our exact specifications specially for the VLS kit. They were tested for the exact air pressure needed to make the VLS rise effortlessly.
When you open and close the doors, do the windows interfere?
No. The windows can be up or down and will not make a difference.
Does this kit use the original factory doors?
Yes. Your factory doors are used for the kit.
Is it hard to get in the car?
No. The door when up clears the door entry area completely. It's as easy to enter as if your door was off of your car entirely.
Will the kit hold the factory door seal?
Yes. We have actually noticed a tighter than factory seal, and absolutely no leaking in what we call torential rain.
Do I have to change anything on the exterior of the car; change my fender, use a special door, etc.?
No. The kit requires no rollling of your fender & you use your existing door.
Are these kits as strong as the factory hinges?
Yes, stronger. The VLS hinge is made of material that is actually made of stronger materials than the factory hinges. We have had a child actually hang from the door (much to our beta testers horror)... with no effect. One beta tester actually drove a little with the doors straight up. We can only guess on the life expectancy of the kit but they are made stronger than factory. We can only assume that they will last as long or longer than the factory hinges.
Can I change back to my normal hinges if for some reason I need to?
Yes. Simply reverse the install process and put your original hinges back on.
